In a stirring call to the next generation of innovators, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday urged graduates of the Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) to embrace entrepreneurship and transform themselves into job creators during the university’s 13th Convocation ceremony in Bhubaneswar.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor stressed that entrepreneurship is far more than launching a business — it is a mindset rooted in initiative, problem-solving, and courage.

“Entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business. It is a mindset — taking initiative, solving problems, owning your ideas, and applying learning to real-world challenges,” he said, affirming that CUTM’s industry-aligned and skill-integrated education equips graduates to tread innovative paths with confidence.

Encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to explore government policies, emerging opportunities, and societal needs, he added, “Every requirement of society presents an entrepreneurial opportunity. Identify it and strive to become an entrepreneur.”

The convocation also witnessed the conferring of honorary doctorates upon two distinguished leaders — Dr. V. Narayan, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space and ISRO; and Dr. B.K. Das, Director General (ECS), DRDO.

Seizing the moment, the Governor urged both organisations to create a comprehensive document detailing entrepreneurial prospects across their sectors — including project costs, land and resource needs, and available technologies — to guide students across educational institutions.

Praising CUTM’s commitment to inclusive and transformative education, especially for students from tribal and remote regions, Dr. Kambhampati highlighted the university’s multidisciplinary strengths spanning engineering, agriculture, health sciences, maritime studies, and more. CUTM’s focus on practical learning, livelihood creation, and community development, he said, has set it apart as a model of socially conscious education.

The Governor also appreciated CUTM’s growing international collaborations, especially with leading institutions in Australia, which he said enhance research quality, training exposure, and global cultural understanding.

Even as he encouraged students to aim high, he underscored the importance of values. “Education in India is not just for personal growth but for the collective good. Let your work contribute to society — through innovation, improved livelihoods, or nation-building. Whatever path you choose, ensure it uplifts those around you,” he reminded the new graduates.

Centurion University, India’s first fully functional Skill University renowned for its unique blend of academic excellence and skill-integrated education, celebrated its 13th Convocation today at its Bhubaneswar campus. As you move forward, remember to give back to society. India has grown remarkably over the years, and with the abundance of opportunities available today, each one of you holds an important role in shaping the nation’s future,” he said.

Dr. B.K. Graduates, step ahead with ambition, but keep your values, ethics, and roots close. The world is waiting for you to rise, to move with confidence, and to transform lives through your work. The nation needs young minds with courage, creativity, and purpose.
