JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga with vibrant celebrations across its operational sites in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts. Reflecting the global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the initiative underscored the intrinsic link between personal well-being and environmental balance.
Mass yoga sessions were conducted at the Narayanposhi, Ganua, and Nuagaon mines, bringing together over 500 employees and stakeholders. Participants engaged in a series of yoga postures and breathing exercises, embracing yoga as a powerful practice for cultivating inner peace, mental resilience, and physical strength.
A highlight of the day was the session at JSW Narayanposhi Mines, where Arun Kumar, Regional Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines (Bhubaneswar), led over 150 attendees in performing yoga. He guided the participants through key asanas and breathing techniques, emphasizing the role of yoga in addressing today’s global challenges. In his speech, he stated that in an age of rising stress, climate threats, and social fragmentation, yoga offers a much-needed path toward healing, unity, and well-being.
The event was attended by several senior leaders from JSW’s Odisha Mining Division. Ram Shankar Sharma, Head of Mines Operations and Projects; Chittaranjan Bahinipati, Head of Human Resources; Ankur Dokania, Head of Finance; Vijay Kumar, Head of Environment, Health & Safety; Sanjeev Choudhury, Head of Security; and Tapan Rath, Mines Manager at Narayanposhi, were all present and actively engaged in the celebration.
Speaking at the event, Chittaranjan Bahinipati stressed that yoga is essential for modern work life, helping individuals manage stress and avoid burnout. He described it as a holistic practice that fosters mental clarity and physical well-being. Ram Shankar Sharma echoed these sentiments, calling yoga “India’s timeless gift to the world,” and highlighting its universal relevance as a path to harmony, discipline, and self-awareness.
