In a historic economic announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed on Monday that industrial giant JSW will soon establish a mega steel plant in Keonjhar with an initial investment of ₹35,000 crore. The move is part of a broader vision to transform Keonjhar into an industrial powerhouse, with 30 new projects totaling ₹1,29,800 crore slated for implementation in the district.
Addressing the state-level celebration of revolutionary leader Dharanidhar Nayak’s birth anniversary at his birthplace, Kusumita, the Chief Minister emphasized that the development blitz will generate employment opportunities for 30,000 to 35,000 youth, boosting both the local economy and livelihood.
“This is more than just industrial growth,” Majhi said. “Keonjhar will see comprehensive development, with parallel investments in education, healthcare, transportation, and irrigation.”
As a tribute to Dharanidhar Nayak’s enduring legacy, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a memorial museum and interpretation center worth ₹50 crore. He also unveiled and initiated work on 340 new infrastructure and welfare projects across Keonjhar district, amounting to an additional ₹1,155 crore in investment.
“Dharanidhar Nayak was not only a revolutionary but also a spiritual icon, whose courage and patriotism continue to inspire Odisha’s youth,” Majhi said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving his memory.
