Marking a powerful stride in its commitment to wellness and sustainable living, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) on Saturday inaugurated ‘Prakriti Yoga Bhoomi’ — a dedicated yoga space nestled within the verdant Mahatma Gandhi Park in Puri — on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga. The serene yoga zone was unveiled by Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NALCO, in the presence of Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (HR), reflecting the company’s mission to promote holistic health among communities.
Set against the backdrop of lush greenery and peaceful surroundings, ‘Prakriti Yoga Bhoomi’ has quickly won the hearts of local residents and park-goers who now find a perfect setting to embrace yoga as a way of life. Mahatma Gandhi Park, already a vibrant hub for morning joggers and evening walkers, now promises an enhanced wellness experience with the inclusion of this yoga facility.
In a parallel gesture of environmental stewardship, the dignitaries also participated in sapling plantation under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, reinforcing the symbiotic relationship between personal well-being and ecological responsibility.
The Yoga Day celebrations echoed across NALCO’s national footprint, with over 3,000 yoga enthusiasts — including employees, their families, school children, CISF personnel, and associates — joining mass yoga sessions. These were held at NALCO’s Corporate Headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Smelter and Power Complex in Angul, Mines & Refinery Complex in Damanjodi, and regional offices and port operations in Vizag. The participants performed various asanas and pledged to integrate yoga into their daily lives, underscoring NALCO’s strong focus on fostering mental and physical well-being across its ecosystem.
