In a significant step toward empowering Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs), the National Urban Co-operative Finance & Development Corporation (NUCFDC) has launched ‘Sahakar PaathShaala’ — a national training and capacity-building initiative aimed at transforming the cooperative banking sector.

The inaugural session was held at the Cosmos Bank Head Office in Pune and witnessed participation from over 100 senior leaders, including Chairmen, CEOs, and Directors from UCBs across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka. The event was graced by NUCFDC CEO Prabhat Chaturvedi, CTO Padmabhushan Bahadure, Cosmos Bank Chairman Pralhad Kokare, and TJSB Sahakari Bank Chairman Sharad Gangal.

Speaking on the occasion, Prabhat Chaturvedi said, “This is a defining step towards building a future-ready UCB sector. In line with the Government of India’s vision of ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi,’ the Sahakar PaathShaala initiative will strengthen compliance, boost digital capabilities, and transform UCBs into dynamic and resilient financial institutions.”

Tailored exclusively for UCBs, Sahakar PaathShaala offers structured, practical learning across areas such as KYC compliance, fraud risk mitigation, governance, treasury operations, and risk management. The initiative also aims to cultivate agile leadership, build a digitally skilled workforce, and foster accelerated adoption of modern technologies.

A highlight of the event was the launch of the Sahakar PaathShaala Digital Learning Platform — a gamified, multilingual online portal offering flexible learning options to banking professionals in English and regional languages. Inaugurated by Sharad Gangal, the platform promotes continuous, self-paced learning for professionals at all levels.

Complementing this is the Sahakar PaathShaala Interactive Webinar Series, set to be held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. These webinars will serve as a platform for continued dialogue, peer learning, and knowledge exchange among UCB leadership.
