A wave of sporting excellence converged at the TPCODL stall on Saturday as Hockey India President and Olympian Dilip Tirkey, along with fellow Olympians Sravani Nand and Deepgrace Ekka, visited the information kiosk on the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana at the Kalinga Stadium. Their presence added star power and a strong public message in favour of clean and sustainable energy adoption.

The athletes interacted with officials at the stall where they were briefed about the key features and benefits of the rooftop solar scheme. Impressed by the initiative, Tirkey emphasised the growing need for households to shift to solar energy. He noted that solar power has now become an important and practical choice for families seeking both sustainability and financial relief, and encouraged citizens to make full use of the government support available under the scheme.

Utkal Karate School Secretary Hari Prasad Pattnaik also visited the stall and expressed keen interest in the ease and affordability with which rooftop solar systems can be installed. He was briefed on the step-by-step process and the substantial savings the scheme offers.

Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana – ULA model, consumers can install a 1 kW rooftop solar system at a significantly subsidised cost of just ₹5,000, with the solar meter cost being additional. The solar modules carry a 25-year warranty, ensuring long-term value and security. The DISCOM further supports consumers by providing free maintenance services for five years.

The scheme extends subsidy benefits from both the Central and State Governments, making it an attractive option for households across the region. Beyond reduced installation costs, consumers stand to cut down their electricity bills substantially and contribute to a cleaner, more environment-friendly future.
