The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on Saturday marked the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a heartfelt ceremony, paying tribute to the visionary architect of the Indian Constitution. Held at the port township, the observance saw a gathering of officers, employees, and officials who reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in shaping the nation’s democratic and social framework.
The ceremony began with the laying of floral tributes at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar by PPA Chairman P. L. Haranadh. In his address, Haranadh emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for equality, justice, and human dignity continues to be a guiding light for India’s progress. He also highlighted the relevance of Ambedkar’s message of social empowerment in today’s world, as organizations work toward inclusive development.
Deputy Chairman T. Venu Gopal, alongside senior officials such as Capt. A. C. Sahoo, Deputy Conservator, Krishna Bapi Raju G., Secretary, and Susil Chandra Nahak, Chief Mechanical Engineer, participated in the tribute. They reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless efforts to uplift marginalized communities and strengthen India’s institutional framework, which continue to resonate across generations.
Members of the PPT SC and ST Employees Welfare Association, including Dr. D. P. Sethi, Paresh Murmu, Gangadhar Sethy, and General Secretary Dhuna Chandra Tarai, also joined the ceremony. They reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a workplace culture that respects diversity and equal opportunity for all.
As the gathering collectively acknowledged Dr. Ambedkar’s multifaceted contributions to social reform, economic thought, and public policy, the Paradip Port Authority pledged to uphold his principles. PPA vowed to continue supporting initiatives that focus on education, empowerment, and equitable growth, ensuring that Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy remains a cornerstone of their efforts towards inclusive progress.
The ceremony served as a reminder of the continuing need to reinforce Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of a just and equitable society through continuous community engagement and welfare-driven initiatives within the port ecosystem.
