Paradip Port Authority (PPA) hosted a vibrant felicitation ceremony last evening at Jayadev Sadan to celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of its athletes and artists. The event, presided over by PPA Chairman P. L. Haranadh, recognized 88 distinguished individuals with cash awards for their stellar performances in the All India Major Port Competitions held during 2024–25.
Chairman Haranadh praised the honourees for their unwavering dedication, exceptional talent, and perseverance, describing them as beacons of inspiration for the wider community. In his address, he underscored the significance of dynamic sports and cultural councils in cultivating and sustaining talent. “If the councils are strong, energetic, and vibrant,” he said, “they will undoubtedly attract greater participation.”
Elaborating on PPA’s inclusive approach to talent development, he added, “We are striving to engage all forms of talent — be it children of employees, contractual workers, or local youth. Our support extends to all. That is why we’ve included many trainees in every sporting activity.”
Notably, the Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad (GKS) has actively organized a range of events over the past year, including the Major Port Cultural and Football Meet, Sahani Cup, Inter-Departmental and Corporate Cricket Tournaments, Paradip Half Marathon, Inter-School Cricket, Children’s Athletics Meet, and a Summer Coaching Camp.
The event was graced by A. K. Bose, Advisor (Traffic), H. S. Rout, newly elected President of GKS, and other senior heads of departments from PPA. The evening commenced with a welcome address by Dr. D. P. Sethy, Working President of GKS. Outgoing GKS President D. N. Sondhi proposed the vote of thanks.
The event proceedings were deftly anchored by Ranjan Rashmi Beura, Secretary, in collaboration with Sports Consultant Rabi Dash.
