In a strong demonstration of its commitment to community health and well-being, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, marked World Malaria Day 2025 by launching an intensive, week-long health awareness and screening campaign across 28 villages and an old-age home in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
Conducted in collaboration with the District Health Department and the National Health Mission, Odisha, the campaign aimed to combat malaria through proactive outreach, education, and testing. Vedanta’s Mobile Health Unit (MHU) and a dedicated team of field volunteers conducted live awareness sessions, educating community members on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of malaria. To ensure inclusivity and better understanding, informational materials in Odia were widely distributed.
In a key component of the campaign, door-to-door malaria testing was conducted using rapid diagnostic kits, reaching over 2,000 people. The initiative significantly enhanced community preparedness while reaffirming Vedanta Aluminium’s long-standing commitment to preventive healthcare and sustainable development in its areas of operation.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer – Vedanta Aluminium, said: “At Vedanta, we believe that inclusive and sustainable development begins with healthy communities. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative. Khirabati Patel, a resident of Siriapali village, shared: “The team clearly explained how malaria spreads and how we can protect ourselves.
