Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, organized a two-day Grappling Training Camp at the Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre in Jharsuguda, attracting participation from over 50 enthusiastic young martial artists. The camp was led by Arko Dasgupta, Technical Director of the Grappling Committee of India and a seasoned grappling trainer.
Launched earlier this year, the Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre already boasts over 100 students and offers professional coaching along with a structured training environment to help students master various techniques. Envisioned as a dedicated training hub for martial arts—particularly disciplines like karate and judo—the centre continues to be a vibrant platform for nurturing discipline, resilience, and physical fitness among the region’s youth.
The special training camp focused on instilling the fundamentals of grappling, emphasizing discipline, focus, and technical excellence. Over the course of two days, participants underwent intensive sessions aimed at enhancing both physical endurance and mental agility through structured martial arts drills.
Sharing his views on the initiative, Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, said: “At Vedanta, we believe in the holistic development of youth — academically, physically, and emotionally. Providing access to diverse sports training is a powerful way to instill confidence, discipline, and resilience among the next generation—values that will serve them well in every walk of life. The passion and commitment displayed by the young learners during this camp are a testament to the positive impact of such initiatives.”
Speaking about her experience, young participant Riya Das shared: “This camp was a great learning experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed training alongside my peers. I picked up several new techniques and gained a lot of confidence. Being mentored by a national-level expert was truly inspiring. I’m motivated to continue training and hope to one day represent my state in this sport.”
The camp concluded with an interactive valedictory session attended by senior staff members from Vedanta Jharsuguda. They lauded the dedication shown by the participants and encouraged them to continue pursuing martial arts. All attendees were awarded certificates of recognition for their active involvement and unwavering commitment throughout the training.
