Lanjigarh, November 29, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Vedanta Lanjigarh, India’s premier producer of smelter-grade alumina and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has been awarded the Platinum Award in the ‘Steel & Mining Sector’ category at the prestigious 6th ICC National Occupational Health & Safety Awards. This distinguished recognition, conferred by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), reflects Vedanta Lanjigarh’s unwavering commitment to achieving ‘Zero Harm’ at the workplace. The award celebrates the company’s ongoing efforts to maintain the highest standards of health and safety for its employees and stakeholders.
The ICC National Occupational Health & Safety Awards aim to encourage businesses across industries to establish and promote safer, healthier occupational environments. Vedanta Lanjigarh has been a leader in implementing comprehensive safety practices, which have earned the company several accolades this year. Key initiatives include active communication of safety policies to employees and business partners, rigorous enforcement of safe working practices, and the implementation of safety management systems. Additionally, the company has taken proactive measures in hazard identification and risk assessment across its sites.
Vedanta Lanjigarh has also been instrumental in promoting specific safety modules tailored to high-risk tasks such as working at heights, confined space operations, crane and lifting safety, electrical safety, isolation procedures, excavation protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, vehicle driving safety, work permits, and rail logistics. These practices have not only contributed to a safe work environment but have also set a benchmark for the industry.

Notably, the refinery received the 9th Apex India Excellence and Occupational Health and Safety Award, 2024, and the Transformance Forum Award earlier this year.
