Jharsuguda, June 21, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer, marked the International Day of Yoga with a series of community yoga sessions aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. Aligned with this year’s global theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ the sessions were enthusiastically attended by Vedanta’s employees, their families, and local community members.
International Day of Yoga, observed annually on June 21st, serves to underscore the numerous benefits of yoga for overall health and wellness. At Vedanta Jharsuguda, home to the world’s largest aluminium plant, the celebrations included activities focused on highlighting yoga’s role in achieving good health. These sessions extended beyond the company’s premises to include diverse community groups, such as inmates at Mission Ashra, a home for the destitute, and participants at Jharsuguda Airport, in collaboration with the District Administration and the Rotary Club of Jharsuguda.
Vedanta Jharsuguda has long been committed to enhancing local healthcare accessibility through various initiatives. The company’s initiatives include the establishment of Vedanta Nand Ghars, modernized anganwadis serving as centers for women and child development. These centers provide critical services such as preschool education, nutritious meals for pregnant and lactating women, and healthcare facilitated by auxiliary nurse/midwives. Additionally, Vedanta’s Mobile Health Units deliver doorstep healthcare to remote villages, while advanced diagnostic centers in Jharsuguda and Laikera offer affordable radiology and pathology services.
