ICSI’s EIRC hosts “प्राrambh: 2025 – The New Beginning”

The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) successfully organized the much-anticipated “प्राrambh: 2025 – The New Beginning”, an Inter-College Competition and Education Fair, at the ICSI CCGRT Kolkata Campus on April 25 and 26, 2025.

The two-day extravaganza brought together over 600 students from more than 30 academic institutions, including colleges, universities, and skill development institutes, to engage in a series of vibrant competitions, thought-provoking sessions, and career-oriented interactions.

The event was graced by Rajesh Raisinghani, MD & CEO of Nicco Parks & Resorts Limited, as the Chief Guest; Prof. (Dr.) Tanupa Chakraborty, Head of the Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta, as the Guest of Honour; and Taniya Sanyal, the first Woman Firefighter of Indian Aviation, as the Special Guest. Their inspiring words and presence energized the gathering and reinforced the importance of innovation, leadership, and perseverance.

In his inaugural address, CS Anuj Saraswat, Chairman, EIRC of the ICSI, highlighted the significance of providing platforms like प्राrambh that empower young minds to rise, express, and excel.

The event was formally inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Ankur Yadav, Joint Secretary (SG) & Head, ICSI EIRO & CCGRT, Kolkata; Dr. S. K. Jena, Director, ICSI CCGRT, Kolkata; and Amit Kr. Ghosal, Director, ICSI-EIRO. Senior dignitaries CS Bishal Harlalka, Vice-Chairman, EIRC; CS (Dr.) Mohit Shaw, Immediate Past Chairman, EIRC; and CS Soumya Sujit Mishra, former Chairman, EIRC, also lent their support and guidance to the initiative.

The fair featured a spectrum of competitions that tested the mettle, creativity, and intellect of the participating students. From business quizzes and debates to creative arts and corporate role-plays, each event was judged by domain experts and veterans from academia and industry.

Seth Anandram Jaipuria College emerged victorious, lifting the prestigious Champions’ Trophy. Goenka College of Commerce & Business Administration, Umeshchandra College, and Victoria Institution (College) secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runners-up positions respectively, showcasing stellar performances across various segments.

Adding a valuable dimension to the event, prominent educational institutions presented their academic offerings at the Education Fair. The exhibition served as a one-stop knowledge hub for students to explore academic and professional opportunities in commerce, finance, law, and company secretaryship.

The second day also witnessed a special visit by students of DPS Howrah and Aditya Academy Dumdum, who attended an Awareness Session conducted by Team ICSI EIRO. The session introduced young aspirants to the CS profession and guided them through a tour of the Knowledge Hub and ongoing exhibits.

“प्राrambh: 2025” truly lived up to its name – a new beginning – igniting curiosity, boosting confidence, and nurturing future leaders. The initiative was yet another testament to ICSI EIRC’s continued commitment to educational excellence and youth empowerment.
