In a significant step towards reinforcing Odisha’s digital transformation in the energy sector, a high-level delegation from the Departmentally Related Standing Committee-X (Energy) of the Odisha Legislative Assembly visited the Power Distribution Technology Centre of TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) at Power House Square, Bhubaneswar.

Led by Ranendra Pratap Swain, MLA and Chairman of the Standing Committee-X (2025–26), the delegation included Shri Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Shri Dibya Shankar Mishra, and Shri Ramesh Chandra Behera, all Members of the Legislative Assembly. They were accompanied by the Managing Director of GRIDCO, senior officials from the Department of Energy, and members of the TPCODL senior leadership team.

The purpose of the visit was to review the evolving digital infrastructure and operational innovations implemented by TPCODL to enhance Odisha’s power distribution system. The delegation was warmly received by TPCODL officials, who provided a comprehensive tour of the facility and showcased the advanced technological capabilities deployed across the network.

A highlight of the visit was a live demonstration of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platform, a cornerstone of TPCODL’s digital strategy. The SCADA system enables real-time monitoring of the power network, intelligent fault detection and isolation, and automated control of grid operations — ensuring improved reliability and quicker response times.

The Committee was also introduced to the advanced functionalities of the Power Distribution Technology Centre, including the Centralized Power System Control Centre (CPSCC) and Area Power System Control Centres (APSCCs). These facilities are pivotal in delivering 24×7 system monitoring, efficient power supply management, and immediate outage response throughout TPCODL’s operational area.

Impressed by the technological advancement, Shri Ranendra Pratap Swain said, “The deployment of cutting-edge systems at the Power Distribution Technology Centre is truly commendable. The Centre is well-prepared to handle emergencies and disasters, including cyclones and even extremist threats. It exemplifies the proactive approach Odisha is taking to safeguard and modernize its energy infrastructure.”

Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, expressed his appreciation for the Committee’s engagement, saying: “We are honoured to host the esteemed members of the Standing Committee and showcase the transformation underway in Odisha’s power distribution landscape. Their insights and encouragement are invaluable as we continue to advance our mission through innovation, digitization, and customer-centricity.”

The visit reaffirmed TPCODL’s crucial role in Odisha’s energy transition journey, with a strong emphasis on reliability, transparency, and the integration of smart technologies. As the state continues to build a resilient and responsive power network, TPCODL remains committed to driving operational excellence and delivering value to consumers.
