TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has intensified its efforts to promote rooftop solar installations across Central Odisha under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY).

In a significant move to make the scheme more accessible and consumer-friendly, TPCODL has waived the ₹500 net metering processing fee for rooftop solar systems under the scheme. With this step, consumers are no longer required to generate demand notes or make online payments through payment gateways — simplifying the overall application process.

Earlier, TPCODL had already removed the requirement for a technical feasibility study for solar systems up to 10 kW capacity. Additionally, the company has expedited key procedures such as site inspections, signing of net metering agreements, and meter installations by designating the Section Manager as the single point of contact for all related activities.

Reaffirming its commitment to ease of access and consumer satisfaction, TPCODL continues to streamline processes within the regulatory framework to encourage widespread adoption of solar energy.

The company urges all residential consumers to take advantage of this opportunity to install rooftop solar systems, generate their own clean energy, and significantly reduce electricity bills. With attractive subsidies from both the Central and State Governments, consumers can expect a return on investment within just three years.

TPCODL CEO Arvind Singh said, “Our commitment to promoting renewable energy solutions is unwavering. This campaign is not just about installing solar rooftops; it’s about creating a lasting change and building a sustainable future for our communities. We aim to empower residents and businesses alike to embrace solar energy and contribute to a greener Odisha.”
