On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, reinforced its commitment to community welfare by conducting blood donation drives across its operational hubs in Odisha. Partnering with government health agencies and local stakeholders, the company organized camps at Jharsuguda, Lanjigarh, and Bhawanipatna, collectively securing over 800 units of blood—an impactful step towards easing the region’s healthcare challenges.

At its Jharsuguda facility, one of the largest integrated aluminium plants globally, Vedanta hosted a mega blood donation camp that resulted in a record collection of 680 units of blood. The event also marked the inauguration of the upgraded Satellite Hospital in Jharsuguda, further bolstering the district’s healthcare infrastructure.

In Lanjigarh, home to Vedanta’s alumina refinery, a company-led voluntary blood donation drive helped collect 130 units of blood for the local government hospital, significantly addressing regional blood supply needs.

At Bhawanipatna near Vedanta’s Sijimali mines, the company collaborated with the Odisha State Blood Transfusion Council and local youth clubs to organize a drive at the District Headquarter Hospital. The camp provided 50 much-needed units of blood to a hospital often burdened by critical shortages.

Speaking on the initiative, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “We believe that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right. Our sustained efforts — be it through blood donation drives or medical outreach — are rooted in our philosophy of ‘Transforming for Good’. We remain committed to working with local authorities and communities to build a healthier, more resilient society.”

Vedanta Aluminium’s broader healthcare outreach touches over six lakh individuals annually through initiatives such as mobile health units, awareness programs, sanitation drives, and collaborations with public health departments. These efforts underscore the company’s dedication to strengthening healthcare delivery in underserved areas.

A business of Vedanta Limited, Vedanta Aluminium produced 2.42 million tonnes of aluminium in FY25 — more than half of India’s total output. Recognized globally for its sustainability practices, the company ranks second in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for the aluminium industry. With its world-class smelters, refinery, and power assets in India, Vedanta Aluminium continues to drive innovation and greener applications of aluminium as the ‘Metal of the Future’.
