Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has lauded the outstanding academic performance of students in Jharsuguda, crediting the success in part to its flagship digital learning initiative, Project Vidyagraha. The district has achieved an impressive third rank among Odisha’s 30 districts in the Annual High School Certificate (AHSC) examination results, recording a stellar 97.87% pass rate. Notably, 33 students secured the top A1 grade, of which 26 were beneficiaries of Project Vidyagraha.

Designed to bridge educational gaps in remote and under-resourced regions, Project Vidyagraha is a technology-driven platform that provides students with access to a comprehensive digital library of recorded lectures across multiple subjects. The initiative supplements traditional classroom learning with engaging, accessible educational content, helping students reinforce concepts and prepare more effectively for their examinations.

The felicitation ceremony, held to honour the district’s top performers, was attended by Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy and District Education Officer Radhakanta Gartia, along with senior officials from Vedanta Aluminium. The event also recognized the dedication of school headmasters and teachers whose guidance played a key role in their students’ academic success.

Speaking about the impact of the initiative, Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, said, “At Vedanta, we believe that quality education is a fundamental stepping stone to the long-term development of our communities. Project Vidyagraha aims to contribute to the academic progress of the students by facilitating innovative learning and development avenues. We are now exploring more ways to extend our support to outstanding students on their continued academic journey.”

Echoing this sentiment, MLA Tankadhar Tripathy praised Vedanta Aluminium’s consistent efforts in uplifting the local education ecosystem: “Vedanta’s Vidyagraha initiative has significantly contributed to Jharsuguda’s impressive performance in the AHSC exams. By harnessing technology to create new learning pathways, the company is playing a vital role in shaping the future of our children and our district.”

In response to the growing enthusiasm from communities and educators alike, Vedanta Aluminium launched the third phase of Project Vidyagraha last year. The initiative now covers 106 schools across Jharsuguda, benefiting over 11,000 students, and is implemented in close collaboration with the District Education Office.

As a socially responsible corporate leader, Vedanta Aluminium continues to integrate education, sustainability, and innovation at the heart of its community engagement initiatives. A business of Vedanta Limited, the company produced 2.42 million tonnes of aluminium in FY25, accounting for more than half of India’s total output. Vedanta Aluminium is also globally recognized for its sustainability efforts, securing the 2nd position in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 rankings for the aluminium sector.

With its world-class facilities and community-focused initiatives, Vedanta Aluminium is not only producing the ‘Metal of the Future’ but also forging brighter futures for India’s youth.
