PARADIP, JUNE 19, 2025
Blending wellness with maritime spirit, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) today conducted an extraordinary yoga session aboard Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Vijaya, setting a unique tone for the upcoming International Yoga Day 2025 celebrations. Organized in collaboration with the Art of Living’s Paradip branch, the event reflected a shared commitment to health, harmony, and inter-agency cooperation in an inspiring offshore setting.
“We are thrilled to host this special yoga session on a Coast Guard vessel as we approach International Yoga Day,” said P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA. “This initiative not only promotes the physical and mental benefits of yoga but also strengthens the camaraderie between the Paradip Port Authority and the Indian Coast Guard — both vital for the security and prosperity of our coastal region. We believe that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce, and yoga plays a crucial role in achieving that,” he added.
Set against the calm expanse of the Bay of Bengal, the session brought together PPA officials, Coast Guard personnel, and yoga enthusiasts who practiced guided asanas and breathing techniques while experiencing the gentle motion of the vessel — a meditative environment unlike any other.
The practice session aboard ICGS Vijaya symbolized a fresh and innovative approach to embracing India’s ancient wellness traditions. It also showcased the evolving synergy between civil and defence institutions working hand in hand to promote physical and mental wellbeing.
As PPA prepares to host a larger public event on June 21 at Gopabandhu Stadium, today’s session serves as a compelling preview. With strong community engagement and visionary leadership, Paradip is emerging as a model port town where tradition, innovation, and wellness converge seamlessly.
