Goutam Deb assumes charge as Regional Executive Director (North) of NTPC

NTPC Limited, India’s largest power utility, has announced the appointment of Goutam Deb as the new Regional Executive Director (North). In his new role, Deb will oversee operations across NTPC’s projects in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, as well as the Northern Region Headquarters based in Lucknow. Alongside this, he will also hold the key portfolio of Executive Director (Project Monitoring), responsible for project oversight across all NTPC thermal power stations.

With an illustrious career spanning nearly 37 years, Deb is a seasoned professional in India’s power sector, having made significant contributions in mechanical maintenance, project construction, and operations across multiple NTPC projects and stations.

He began his journey with NTPC in 1988 as an Engineering Executive Trainee after completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Bengal University, Darjeeling. He further bolstered his academic credentials with an M. Tech in Industrial Management from IIT Kharagpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from MDI Gurgaon.

Throughout his tenure, Deb has served in various leadership roles at prominent NTPC projects including Dadri, Farakka, Kahalgaon, Unchahar, Patratu, Talcher Thermal, and at HURL, Barauni. He has previously led critical positions such as Regional Executive Director (Hydro), Business Unit Head (BUH) at HURL Barauni, and Head of Project at Talcher Thermal, demonstrating exceptional strategic and operational acumen.

Recognized for his visionary leadership and technical expertise, Goutam Deb brings a wealth of experience that is expected to strengthen NTPC’s mission of delivering sustainable and reliable energy in the Northern Region. His appointment marks a significant step toward enhancing operational efficiency, project execution, and stakeholder engagement across NTPC’s northern portfolio.
