Reaffirming its steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and green initiatives, NTPC Northern Region Headquarters carried out a large-scale plantation drive on Wednesday under the banner of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign.
Spearheading the event was Goutam Deb, Regional Executive Director (North), who personally planted saplings at the NTPC NRHQ campus in the presence of Samiran Sinha Ray, Chief General Manager (HR), along with Heads of Departments, senior officials, and enthusiastic employees.
The initiative, rooted in NTPC’s sustainability ethos, saw active participation from staff members who joined hands in planting saplings across the premises, symbolizing both personal responsibility and collective commitment to a greener future.
In a meaningful gesture to commemorate the day, fruit-bearing saplings were also distributed to all employees by the Regional Executive Director (North), with the intent of encouraging tree plantation at home. This act served to extend the environmental mission beyond the workplace and into the personal lives of NTPC employees.
The campaign, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’, was launched on June 5, 2025, as the second phase of a national movement inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, advocating that every citizen plant a tree in honour of their mother or Mother Earth. NTPC has embraced this call to action wholeheartedly, aiming to create lasting environmental impact while fostering emotional connections to nature.
By integrating sustainability with a personal touch, NTPC Northern Region is not only setting an example within the power sector but also strengthening its role as a responsible corporate citizen committed to the well-being of the planet.
