Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on Monday announced a monumental achievement, having clocked an unprecedented 50.00 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo throughput in the current fiscal year. This remarkable feat has been accomplished in record time, making it the fastest 50 MMT ever handled in the Port’s illustrious history, underscoring its escalating efficiency and operational prowess.

The Port reached this significant milestone within the first four months of the current financial year, achieving it four days in advance compared to the previous year. This early accomplishment highlights the Port’s consistent growth trajectory and its strengthened position in the Indian maritime ecosystem.

This impressive performance is a testament to the robust strategies and dedicated efforts of Team PPA, coupled with continuous support from stakeholders across the value chain. Key cargo segments have shown significant growth, contributing to this overall success.

Coal cargo remained a major contributor, reaching 22.06 MMT and exhibiting a growth of 0.53 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Container cargo witnessed an exceptional growth of 27.80 per cent over the same period, highlighting the Port’s expanding capabilities and diversification efforts. Crude oil throughput reached 11.36 MMT, showing a robust growth of 14.97 per cent, while fertilizer raw materials also contributed significantly with an 8.41 per cent increase over the previous fiscal.

Paradip Port Authority Chairman P.L. Haranadh expressed his profound gratitude to the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, for his dynamic leadership and unwavering guidance. “Together, with the unwavering support of our dedicated workforce and strong support of our customers, we shall continue to script remarkable success stories for Paradip Port — a story that exemplifies growth, sustainability, and a brighter future for the Port,” said Haranadh.

He further extended his appreciation to all officers, employees, user industries, stevedores, steamer agents, trade unions, and PPP operators for their continued faith and collaboration, which have been instrumental in achieving this record. According to him, this collective effort and stakeholder synergy are the foundation of Paradip Port’s outstanding performance and reliability as a trusted maritime hub.

This achievement solidifies Paradip Port’s position as a leading maritime gateway in India, poised for even greater heights. With enhanced operational efficiencies and strategic infrastructure developments underway, PPA is confident of achieving its set target in cargo throughput for the current financial year 2025–26. The Port continues to remain a vital engine of economic growth, playing a pivotal role in supporting India’s trade and industrial ecosystem.
