These new units will provide the local communities with reliable access to safe and clean drinking water, improving their overall health and well-being.
The newly installed drinking water unit at Belkundi village, located in Ward-2 of Barbil Municipality near the Thakurani mine, directly addresses the pressing need for a dependable water source. The unit features a 5,000-litre storage tank, a solar-powered pumping system, a borewell, and five tap points. It is expected to benefit over 220 local residents. The inauguration event was attended by Laxman Mohanta, Ex-Councillor of Ward-2; Vikas Yadvendu, Head of CSR at AM/NS India; Uday Kumar Verma, Head of Security at AM/NS India; along with other company officials and enthusiastic community members.
Another solar-powered drinking water unit was inaugurated at Motupadar village, located under the Malda Gram Panchayat in the Koira Block. This solar-powered borewell system will provide clean drinking water to more than 130 people, helping to reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases and enhancing the overall quality of life. The event was attended by Shri Ajit Singh, Head of Pipeline Projects for Odisha at AM/NS India, along with other company representatives and local community leaders.
As part of these initiatives, community members were given training and orientation sessions on the maintenance and upkeep of the solar water systems. This ensures the long-term sustainability, local ownership, and efficient operation of these vital community assets.
These projects, under Project Trupti, align with AM/NS India’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically those related to clean water and sanitation, as well as affordable and clean energy. AM/NS India remains dedicated to improving community well-being through sustainable infrastructure, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the people it serves.
