Jindal Steel marked the 95th birth anniversary of its visionary founder, O.P. Jindal — fondly remembered as ‘Bauji’ in the Jindal Parivaar — with a day of reverence, cultural pride, and community engagement across its Barbil Pellet Plant, Tensa, and Kasia Iron Mines (BKT Units).

At the Barbil Pellet Plant, the day began with a floral tribute to O.P. Jindal, followed by puja and havan rituals at the township temple. Unit Head Purushotham M.D., Head – HR & ES Bipin Bihari Pradhan, senior executives, and their families participated in the solemn ceremony. In the evening, the Jindal Nagar Ladies Club hosted a heartfelt tribute at the JSPLEX Community Hall, celebrating Bauji’s legacy.

The Kasia Iron Mine also observed the day with devotion, conducting rituals at the township temple. The gathering was led by Kasia Unit Head and Cluster Head – BKT Units, Pramod Kumar Patra, along with senior executives, employees, and their families.

At the Tensa Unit, rituals at the township temple brought together Unit Head R.S. Raghuwanshi, employees, and their families. Adding a sporting spirit to the occasion, the CSR team organized the O.P. Jindal Memorial Football Tournament (August 6–7), which drew enthusiastic participation from rural teams. In a nail-biting final, Team Zero-Point edged past Team Sashyakala 4–2 in a tiebreaker. Thousands of villagers cheered from the sidelines. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Akshay Pillay, Sub-Collector, Bonai, alongside Pramod Kumar Patra, Shri R.S. Raghuwanshi, and CSR Head Vargil Lakra.

On social media platform X, Member of Parliament (Kurukshetra) and Chairman of Jindal Steel, Naveen Jindal, paid glowing tribute to the founder, writing: “Bauji Shri Om Prakash Jindal Ji was not only a great industrialist but also a true Karmayogi, public servant, social reformer, and a dedicated torchbearer of the vision of a self-reliant India. His thoughts, values, and principles continue to guide us all even today. On his birth anniversary, we offer our heartfelt tributes to him.”

The celebrations extended well beyond company premises, with the Jindal Foundation hosting community sports, welfare programmes, and educational competitions — including debates, quizzes, drawing, and essay writing — for villagers and schoolchildren. At the Jindal School in Soyabali, Barbil, Foundation Day festivities showcased vibrant cultural performances by students. Eighteen national and international Wushu champions were felicitated by Patra and Purushotham M.D.

At Kasia, the unit distributed nutritious food to hundreds of students at the Adivasi Vikas Samiti in the presence of Padma Shri Tulasi Munda. The occasion was attended by the three Unit Heads, HR Head, and CSR Head of the BKT Units, underscoring the company’s deep community connect.

From devotional ceremonies to spirited sports, the 95th birth anniversary of O.P. Jindal resonated with the values he lived by — unity, service, and a commitment to building a stronger India.
