Centurion University celebrates 79th Independence Day with patriotic zeal

Centurion University of Technology and Management, Odisha, marked the 79th Independence Day with fervent enthusiasm and deep reverence, celebrating the spirit of patriotism, unity, and national pride. The occasion was led by Dr. Ajay Kumar Nayak, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration), whose leadership set the tone for the day’s solemn yet spirited proceedings.

The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Dr. Nayak, followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem that reverberated across the campus. In his address, Dr. Nayak paid heartfelt homage to the freedom fighters whose sacrifices laid the foundation of India’s independence. He underscored the responsibility of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens who embody the constitutional ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Stressing on values of integrity, unity, and academic excellence, he also highlighted the pivotal role of legal education in strengthening democratic institutions and upholding the rule of law in today’s evolving society.

The ceremony opened with a welcome address by Dr. Biswajeet Mishra, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic), who reflected on India’s transformative journey since 1947 and outlined Centurion University’s contributions to nation-building through innovation, research, education, and community engagement. Adding global significance to the occasion, the event was graced by the presence of Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner, along with Swarnamayee Satapathy, Communication Events & Visits Officer, Kolkata.

The day witnessed spirited participation from faculty, staff, and students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, who came together in a unified expression of patriotism. The entire celebration was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sangram Keshari Swain, Dean, Students’ Welfare (Bhubaneswar Campus), along with the Culture and Social Responsibility Cell, ensuring that the dignity, discipline, and sanctity of Independence Day were upheld with meticulous care.

Reaffirming its commitment to the nation, Centurion University dedicated the occasion to its vision of fostering a vibrant academic community that honours India’s rich heritage, upholds democratic values, and strives for inclusive, innovative, and transformative education for a stronger tomorrow.
