Hindalco’s Meenakshi Coal Mine organises dental awareness camps for schoolchildren

Reaffirming its commitment to community health and well-being, Hindalco’s Meenakshi Coal Mine recently organised dental awareness camps at Durubaga Upper Primary School and Kiripsira Upper Primary School in Hemgir, Sundargarh district. Conducted under the company’s CSR programme, the initiative was designed to instill healthy oral hygiene practices among schoolchildren and to spread awareness about the importance of preventive dental care.

During the interactive sessions, the company’s Medical Officer from the Mobile Health Unit explained the significance of dental hygiene, demonstrated correct brushing techniques, and highlighted the long-term benefits of maintaining oral health. The students participated enthusiastically, eager to learn simple yet effective habits that can ensure strong and healthy teeth.

To reinforce these practices, dental kits were distributed to all participating children. The programme witnessed the presence of the ex-Sarpanch of Kiripsira, school teachers, and the company’s Head-HR, Sharad Hurkat, who lauded the initiative and encouraged students to adopt good dental hygiene as part of their everyday routine. Nearly 70 children benefited from this awareness drive.

Speaking about the initiative, Hindalco’s Head-Mining Business and Sambalpur Cluster Head, Kailash Pandey, said: “At Hindalco, we believe that good health is the foundation of strong communities. Through our CSR initiatives, we are committed not only to provide healthcare facilities but also to create awareness about preventive care, especially among children who are the future of our nation. The dental awareness camps are a step in this direction, empowering young students with knowledge and habits that will help them lead healthier lives.”

The camp was seamlessly coordinated by Niharika Sahu, GM-CSR of Meenakshi Mines, ensuring its smooth and impactful execution.
