Centurion University, UP Forensic Science Lab ink MoU to advance forensic research and education

In a significant step towards strengthening academic-industry collaboration in the field of forensic science, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), with campuses in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, and the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL), Uttar Pradesh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lucknow on Friday.

The agreement seeks to foster academic and research engagements, sharing of expertise, and institutional cooperation between the two organizations. It will pave the way for joint research, skill development, and professional training in forensic science while creating stronger linkages between academia and law enforcement.

The signing ceremony was attended by Rajeev Krishna, Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, and Prof. Mukti Kanta Mishra, President of Centurion University. The MoU was signed and exchanged by Naveen Arora, Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services, and Dr. Supriya Pattanayak, Vice Chancellor of Centurion University.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Rajeev Krishna said, “This collaboration will bridge the gap between academic research and real-world forensic applications, creating a robust platform for innovation and skill enhancement.”

Prof. Mishra added, “By combining our skill-integrated education deliveries with the expertise of SFSL, we will empower students and researchers with relevant and appropriate capacities to contribute meaningfully to advancements in forensic science and technology.”

The partnership includes provisions for joint teaching and training initiatives, exchange of research materials, access to specialized laboratory facilities, and co-guidance for scholars. Students pursuing forensic studies at Centurion University are expected to gain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving forensic sector, enhancing their employability while contributing to justice delivery and investigative systems nationwide.

Centurion University, a pioneer in skill-integrated higher education, has been at the forefront of forensic studies in eastern India since 2016.

The State Forensic Science Laboratory, headquartered in Lucknow, continues to serve as a premier institution offering technical support and forensic expertise to law enforcement across Uttar Pradesh.
