Vedanta Lanjigarh brings healthcare to Kalahandi’s doorstep through ‘Project Aarogya’

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has reinforced its commitment to rural healthcare in Kalahandi through its flagship CSR initiative, Project Aarogya. As part of this sustained outreach, the company recently organised a Mega Health Camp in Kankutru Gram Panchayat, extending medical services to 13 villages in the Lanjigarh block and benefitting nearly 400 people with free consultations, diagnostics, and medicines.

A dedicated team of medical professionals provided general health check-ups, distributed essential medicines, and created awareness on preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases. The camp not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also helped instill greater awareness about long-term well-being. With such monthly health camps, Vedanta ensures regular access to critical services for communities that often remain underserved, while contributing directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya, CEO of Vedanta’s Alumina Business, underlined the importance of such initiatives, saying: “Healthcare is a fundamental right, yet access remains a challenge for many rural communities. In Kalahandi district, through Project Aarogya, we provide quality healthcare services to more than 60,000 people annually. Initiatives like the Mega Health Camps reflect our belief that community well-being is the foundation of sustainable growth.”

The scale of Project Aarogya in FY2025 reflects its impact. More than 660 Mobile Health Unit visits were carried out, delivering doorstep healthcare to over 20,500 individuals across remote villages. In addition, over 680 community awareness sessions were conducted, reaching more than 15,000 people with vital information on hygiene, wellness, and disease prevention.

Through its consistent healthcare interventions, Vedanta Lanjigarh is not only strengthening public health infrastructure but also building healthier, more resilient rural communities.
