Tata Power-led Odisha discoms are reshaping India’s power distribution landscape by harnessing cutting-edge technology, strengthening consumer trust, and driving large-scale transformation across the state. Serving nearly ten million consumers, the four utilities — TPCODL, TPWODL, TPSODL, and TPNODL — have emerged as a benchmark for reliable, consumer-centric power supply.

Technology has been the cornerstone of this transformation. A defining milestone in Odisha’s power sector is the Power Distribution Technology Centre (PDTC) — the state’s first integrated command hub managing the entire distribution network from a single point. Equipped with SCADA systems, GIS-based mapping, and automated outage management, the PDTC enables real-time monitoring, rapid fault detection, and proactive maintenance across both urban and rural regions. Complementing this backbone, digital platforms such as mobile apps, WhatsApp-based services, and missed-call helplines have brought services directly into consumers’ hands. Together, these technology-driven initiatives have helped Odisha’s discoms secure A+ rankings in the Ministry of Power’s annual performance assessment for two consecutive years, underscoring their operational excellence.

Operational discipline has further deepened consumer trust. Over the past three years, AT&C losses have been cut by nearly 11 percent, enhancing both financial sustainability and efficiency. Billing and collection efficiency has crossed 99 percent in several divisions, ensuring robust cash flows that are reinvested in network modernization. Capital expenditure of ₹5,986 crore during this period has upgraded substations, feeders, and underground cabling, significantly improving supply reliability and safety. Regular energy audits and strengthened protection systems have reinforced accountability and resilience across operations.

Equally significant has been the focus on consumer experience. The average time for obtaining new connections has been reduced by 40 percent through simplified digital processes, while consumer grievances are now resolved within stipulated timelines thanks to strengthened rural customer care centres and 24×7 helplines.

Beyond reliable power supply, the discoms’ commitment extends to community development. CSR initiatives benefit over 25 lakh people annually through healthcare camps, educational support, skill-building, and entrepreneurship programs. A motivated, well-trained workforce — nurtured through regular engagement surveys and capability development initiatives—ensures service excellence at every touchpoint.

With a sharp focus on Technology, Trust, and Transformation, Tata Power-led Odisha discoms are not just powering homes and businesses but also enabling inclusive growth and accelerating India’s clean energy transition.

Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies, manages Odisha’s four distribution utilities — TPCODL, TPWODL, TPSODL, and TPNODL — as joint ventures with the Government of Odisha. Together, they serve nearly 10 million consumers across the state and continue to set new benchmarks in reliable, sustainable, and consumer-first power distribution in India.
