Prof. Balooni stresses educators’ role in building institutions at ICSI event

“Educators not only serve as role models for students and society but also play a vital role in building institutions,” remarked Professor (Dr.) Kulbhushan Balooni, Vice Chancellor of Birla Global University, while addressing the Teachers’ Conference organised by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Sunday.

Prof. Balooni praised ICSI for creating a platform that enables exchange of expertise between academia and industry professionals. Emphasising the larger responsibility of educators, he urged teachers to cultivate an environment that nurtures student growth, creativity, and leadership.

Guest of Honour, Professor Ranjan Kumar Bal, Vice Chancellor of ASBM University, noted that teachers must first empower themselves before they can inspire their students. Describing learning as a lifelong journey, he stressed the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and acknowledged the growing role of Company Secretaries in strengthening the corporate ecosystem.

Adding to the discussion, Prof. P. K. Mohanty, Academic Dean and NEP Coordinator at XIM University, underscored the need for greater participation of professional Company Secretaries in management institutions. He reiterated that empowering educators remains key to the nation’s academic and professional progress.

Welcoming the gathering, CS Sasmita Panda, Chairperson of the Bhubaneswar Chapter, spoke about the vast scope of Company Secretaryship as a career and its relevance in shaping future business leaders. She was joined by fellow office bearers CS Nilakantha Samal (Secretary) and CS Jyotirmaya Panigrahi (Treasurer), who also marked their presence.

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from lecturers and faculty members across Odisha. Attendees appreciated ICSI’s initiative in fostering dialogue between educators and professionals and recommended that such knowledge-sharing platforms be continued for the benefit of the academic community.
