Rich tributes paid to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his centenary at NTPC Bongaigaon

NTPC Bongaigaon joined the nation in celebrating the centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, paying rich and heartfelt tributes to the immortal Bard of Assam on his 100th birth anniversary. The solemn yet inspiring programme brought together students, teachers, and employees who fondly remembered the maestro’s timeless contributions to music, culture, and society.

The observance began with floral tributes offered by Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, accompanied by employees of the station. Addressing the gathering, Shri Gupta recalled Dr. Hazarika as a visionary and cultural icon whose songs carried messages of humanity, unity, and hope. He emphasized that the legendary singer’s creations continue to resonate across generations, inspiring people across India and beyond with their universal appeal.

At Notredame Academy, NTPC Salakati, Principal Sister Manju Joseph, along with students, also paid homage to the music maestro. She highlighted Dr. Hazarika’s unique ability to connect Assam with the wider world through his soulful compositions, evocative lyrics, and enduring call for peace and brotherhood. The students expressed their admiration through reflections and cultural presentations dedicated to his legacy.
