Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has developed a fitness-cum-amusement park for 700 students of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama School at Hatamuniguda in Rayagada district. The park, equipped with diverse play and fitness facilities, aims to promote physical activity, recreation, and holistic growth among children.
The facility was inaugurated by Prateek Kumar, Vice President & Head, Vedanta Sijimali Bauxite Mines, in the presence of school authorities. Following the inauguration, the school premises came alive with the sight of students enthusiastically exploring the new park.
In rural regions like Rayagada, limited school infrastructure often hampers students’ learning and overall growth. By equipping schools with modern facilities, Vedanta Aluminium seeks to create a more supportive environment for academic success and all-round development.
Established in 2008 on 100 acres of land provided by the Odisha Government, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama School imparts education up to Class 12 under the CBSE curriculum. All its students come from tribal communities across the Koraput region, including Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts.
Speaking about the initiative, Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said: “At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe that true community development goes beyond infrastructure – it’s about creating opportunities for holistic growth. This fitness-cum-amusement park will provide children with avenues for play and physical activity in a joyful environment that builds confidence and nurtures their overall development. We remain committed to partnering with communities to create such impactful interventions that shape the future of our nation.”
Through initiatives like this, Vedanta Aluminium continues to reinforce its commitment to transformative community development—focusing on education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, grassroots sports, and cultural promotion. By working closely with local authorities and community stakeholders, the company ensures its programmes deliver tangible socio-economic progress.
Vedanta Aluminium, a business of Vedanta Limited, is India’s largest aluminium producer, accounting for more than half of the country’s output at 2.42 million tonnes in FY25. A global leader in value-added aluminium products, the company ranks second in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2024 for the aluminium industry—reflecting its leadership in sustainable practices. With its world-class smelters, alumina refinery, and power plants in India, Vedanta Aluminium continues to drive emerging applications of aluminium as the “Metal of the Future” for a greener tomorrow.
