Vedanta Aluminium empowers students with fire safety skills through interactive training at Jharsuguda school

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, recently organized an engaging and informative fire safety awareness program at the Government High School, Sarbahal, as part of its ongoing ‘Agni Jagrukta’ initiative. The session saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 students and staff members, all of whom were introduced to essential fire prevention techniques and emergency response protocols.

The program’s goal was to raise awareness among young students about the importance of fire safety through interactive discussions and live demonstrations. Fire safety experts from Vedanta’s team led the session, providing in-depth training on how to prevent fire hazards, safe evacuation procedures, and effective emergency response strategies. One of the most impactful moments of the event was a hands-on demonstration where students and teachers practiced using fire extinguishers, equipping them with the practical skills to respond confidently to potential fire emergencies.

Chandru, CEO of Vedanta Jharsuguda, spoke about the significance of the initiative: “At Vedanta Aluminium, safety is more than just a workplace priority; it’s a community responsibility. Through programs like ‘Agni Jagrukta’, we aim to instill fire safety awareness at the grassroots level. Our goal is to empower young minds with the knowledge and confidence needed to handle emergencies effectively, fostering a sense of preparedness, responsibility, and community well-being.”

Tanmayee Shubhashree, Headmistress of Government High School, Sarbahal, highlighted the value of such training for students, stating, “This training initiative is a significant step in making our school a safer place for children. By learning these crucial skills early on, students are better equipped to handle unexpected situations, and the knowledge gained will stay with them throughout their lives.”

As part of the broader ‘Agni Jagrukta’ initiative, Vedanta Aluminium has already trained over 500 students across five schools in Jharsuguda, providing them with essential fire safety skills. The company plans to expand this program to more educational institutions in the coming months, promoting a culture of safety that extends beyond classrooms and into local communities and homes.
