TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has rolled out comprehensive safety measures to ensure uninterrupted and secure power supply during the Dussehra celebrations. With thousands of puja pandals, cultural programmes, and festive markets set to illuminate Central Odisha, the company has reinforced its commitment to public safety and urged organisers, vendors, and citizens to strictly adhere to prescribed guidelines.

Puja committees and shopkeepers can obtain temporary electricity connections through TPCODL’s Section, Sub-Division, or Division offices. The company has cautioned against illegal hooking, warning that it not only endangers lives but also risks transformer overloads, short circuits, fire hazards, and large-scale power disruptions during the festivities.

Organisers have been advised to hire only licensed electricians, ensure proper wiring without unsafe joints, provide effective earthing for electrical setups, and install RCCB devices with a 30 mA cut-off rating to safeguard against electric shocks. Committees are also encouraged to use energy-efficient LED lighting, avoid socket overloading, refrain from using substandard materials, and keep fire extinguishers at pandals for emergency preparedness.

Citizens have been reminded to maintain a safe distance from poles, transformers, and overhead lines. Decorative items and flags should be placed away from wires, and metallic rods must not be used for hoisting. Special caution has been advised during processions and idol immersions, while firecrackers must never be burst near transformers or substations to prevent accidents.

Regular inspections of connections and prompt replacement of damaged wires have been strongly recommended. To ensure timely support, TPCODL has further strengthened its 24×7 Call Centre (1912 / 1800-345-7122) to provide quick assistance in case of supply disruptions or emergencies.

Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, said, “Safety is our foremost priority. We appeal to citizens and organisers to obtain legal connections and follow all safety measures, so that the festive season can be celebrated with joy, light, and complete security.”
