Jindal Steel has achieved a landmark distinction by becoming the country’s first large, diversified enterprise — and the first integrated steel manufacturer — to be recognised as an ‘Awarding Body’ by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.

The recognition, granted under the ‘Large Indian Enterprise/MNC’ category, empowers Jindal Steel with PAN-India jurisdiction to design and deliver industry-aligned skilling programmes. These programmes, structured under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Credit Framework, will focus on critical areas such as decarbonisation, circular economy, and advanced technologies.

“This recognition bridges the crucial gap between education and employment through outcome-based skilling while preparing India’s youth for emerging global challenges,” the company said in a statement.

As an Awarding Body, Jindal Steel will have the mandate to establish standards, develop qualifications, and issue certifications with enhanced credibility and global portability — ensuring greater career mobility across industries. The initiative is expected to accelerate workforce development, aligning talent with the evolving demands of modern infrastructure and India’s green energy transition.

“Being recognised as an Awarding Body by NCVET is a responsibility we accept with seriousness and purpose. It allows us to bring industry standards directly into education and skilling, so that young Indians gain the knowledge and discipline needed to succeed in the workplace and contribute to building a stronger nation,” said Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel.

This milestone underscores Jindal Steel’s leadership not only in steel and infrastructure but also in capacity building, vocational education, and nation-building — setting a new benchmark for Indian enterprises in shaping the future of work.
