Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, Member of Rajya Sabha and National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party, underscored the vital role of Company Secretaries in India’s economic future during the Institute of Company Secretaries of India’s (ICSI) 57th Foundation Day celebration in New Delhi on October 4. He emphasized that with India’s rapidly expanding corporate and financial sectors, Company Secretaries are poised to play an indispensable role in steering this growth. “With India’s rapid economic growth, the corporate and financial sectors are set to witness remarkable progress, where Company Secretaries will have a significant and indispensable role to play,” Dr. Trivedi remarked in his address.
The event, themed ‘Scripting Good Governance, Shaping Viksit Bharat’, saw prominent figures in the economic and governance sectors. Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, delivered the keynote address, recognizing ICSI as a key player in India’s corporate ecosystem. He urged Company Secretaries to lead the charge in establishing multidisciplinary firms, driving the next phase of corporate evolution in India. “ICSI is an important pillar of India’s corporate ecosystem driving economic growth. I urge Company Secretaries to take lead and build multidisciplinary firms that will shape the next phase of corporate evolution,” Sanyal said.
Dhananjay Shukla, President of ICSI, reflected on the organization’s remarkable journey over the past 57 years. “From a modest beginning in 1968, to a pathway marked by values, determination, and advancement, the vision that took shape 57 years ago is now the largest fraternity of Company Secretaries in the world,” he stated, acknowledging the immense contributions of past leaders who shaped ICSI into a leading force in corporate governance.
The occasion was further marked by a soulful performance by renowned classical vocalist Sniti Mishra, who captivated the audience with her renditions in the evening.
ICSI also made several key announcements, including the release of its ‘Bi-Annual Progress Report’, ‘Board Evaluation by the IGPI’, the ‘5th ICSI Board Mentorship Programme’, and the ‘Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme’. These initiatives aim to support the ongoing development of corporate governance standards and provide training and mentorship for the next generation of Company Secretaries.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of leaders from trade and industry, senior corporate professionals, government officials, and ICSI members, students, and employees. The celebrations were broadcast live on ICSI’s social media handles, ensuring global participation.
