A five-day residential Hands-on Skill Development Training Programme for students of Government Vocational Higher Secondary Schools commenced on Monday at Centurion University, Bhubaneswar, under the SPEFL Trade initiative. The programme aims to provide students with practical exposure and enhance their employability through skill-based learning.
Inaugurating the training, Niyati Pattnaik, Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity, underscoring that vocational education is key to building future-ready careers. She noted that such programmes not only bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industrial requirements but also empower youth to explore diverse career pathways.
Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Pattnaik, Vice Chancellor of Centurion University, interacted with the participants and stressed the relevance of skill-based education in today’s dynamic job market. She said that Centurion University remains committed to fostering innovation and practical learning through collaborations like these.
Earlier, Jitendra Nayak, Deputy Director, DHSE, delivered the welcome address, while C.H. Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Director, proposed the vote of thanks.
A total of 100 students and teachers are participating in the residential training, which includes hands-on sessions across multiple vocational trades. The initiative is designed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills and strengthen their confidence to pursue meaningful employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
