Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Beginners held at NTPC Northern Region Headquarters

A workshop on “Artificial Intelligence for Beginners” was organised at NTPC Northern Region Headquarters, Lucknow, to introduce employees and their family members to the transformative world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its growing applications in everyday life.

The inaugural session began with Samiran Sinha Ray, RHOHR, NRHQ, welcoming the resource person Sarabjit Ghosh, Director (IT), UPPCL and former GM (IT), NTPC Ltd., along with his team.

Sinha Ray shared that the initiative, taken under the leadership of Goutam Deb, RED (North), was aimed at familiarising NTPC employees and their families with the fast-evolving landscape of AI. He noted that as technology continues to redefine industries and lifestyles, it is crucial for everyone to stay informed and skilled in using emerging digital tools. He further added that the workshop would empower participants to understand how AI can be used as a practical and powerful tool to navigate rapid technological changes.

In his address, Sarabjit Ghosh highlighted the growing indispensability of AI in enhancing productivity and operational efficiency. He explained how the integration of AI into daily workflows can streamline repetitive processes, allowing individuals and organisations to focus on innovation and creativity. Ghosh encouraged participants to view AI not as a replacement for human intelligence but as a means to augment human capabilities and decision-making.

The workshop featured hands-on sessions demonstrating various AI tools and their real-world applications, making the experience both engaging and enlightening. Participants actively interacted with the faculty team, exploring ways AI could simplify work and personal tasks alike.

Later in the day, a similar session was organised for employee spouses and members of the Uttra Ladies Club. This session focused on introducing AI applications useful in daily life — from digital assistants to creative tools — and was met with enthusiastic participation and appreciation from attendees.

The event successfully demystified Artificial Intelligence for beginners, aligning with NTPC’s vision of fostering a digitally aware and future-ready community within its workforce and families.
