The Indian Roads Congress (IRC) has become a catalyst for India’s infrastructure revolution, with its influence reaching across key projects like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and sacred corridors around the Shrimandir. As Odisha prepares to host the IRC conference once again, the state’s infrastructure story stands as a testament to the IRC’s impact.

The Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) has been at the forefront of reshaping the state’s road and bridge networks. Notable projects include the Shrimandir Parikrama Project in Puri, Samaleswari Temple redevelopment in Sambalpur, and Utkalmani Gopabandhu birthplace restoration in Suando village. Ongoing projects in Dhauli and Bakulaban further reflect the state’s commitment to development.

Modern engineering feats, such as Odisha’s first trumpet bridge (Shri Setu) in Puri, twin flyovers in Keonjhar, and the Netaji Bus Terminal in Cuttack, showcase IRC’s role in driving excellence. The Puri Beach rejuvenation project, a collaboration with Odisha University, is another major initiative underway.

The Odisha government aims to upgrade 75,000 km of roads under the Odisha State Highways Authority, with the expectation that the upcoming IRC conference will boost central support. Recently, the approval of a Rs 8,307 crore 6-lane Bhubaneswar Bypass project is poised to ease traffic congestion in the capital city.

The IRC 2025 conference will serve as a platform to highlight the latest innovations in road construction, with a special focus on mechanized mastic asphalt technology. The event will foster knowledge exchange, bringing together engineers and industry experts to explore new technologies and sustainable practices.

With its emphasis on heritage, innovation, and modernity, the IRC’s 2025 edition will help lay the groundwork for a progressive, future-ready Odisha.
