Union Bank of India commemorated its 107th Foundation Day on November 11 with a grand celebration at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, Mumbai, marking more than a century of unwavering service, innovation, and excellence in the Indian banking sector. The milestone event was graced by M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, as Chief Guest, alongside Asheesh Pandey, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Executive Directors Nitesh Ranjan, Ramasubramanian S. and Sanjay Rudra, Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Kumar Singh, Directors on the Board, senior officials, employees, and esteemed customers.
Addressing the gathering, M. Nagaraju lauded the Bank’s legacy and contribution to India’s economic progress. “Founded in 1919, Union Bank has grown into one of India’s most respected financial institutions, touching millions of lives. Since its amalgamation, the Bank has achieved remarkable operational synergy and progress. As it enters a new phase of growth, its vision of becoming a digitally empowered, customer-centric, and future-ready institution will further strengthen its role as a trusted partner in nation building,” he said.
Welcoming guests to the historic occasion, Asheesh Pandey highlighted that the celebration is a tribute not only to the Bank’s longevity but also to its legacy of trust, resilience, and national service. He shared that over 9,000 people attended the event in Mumbai, while more than 50,000 employees, customers, and dignitaries joined virtually from 140 Regional and 22 Zonal Offices across the country. “As of September 30, the Bank’s global business stands at ₹22.10 lakh crore, serving 16 crore customers — our greatest strength,” he added.
Marking the day with new initiatives, the Bank launched ‘Union ebiz’, a Business Mobile Banking App designed to simplify and modernize business transactions for MSMEs and enterprises. The app offers over 20 business journeys and 300 features, including access rights management, bulk payments, collection journeys, and settlements. The logo for the upcoming retail customer app, ‘Union Ease’, was also unveiled, promising a seamless digital banking experience.
Furthering its commitment to expansion and accessibility, M. Nagaraju virtually inaugurated 51 new branches and offices across key regions. Demonstrating its spirit of service and national pride, employees of Union Bank of India contributed ₹21.68 crore to the National Defence Fund in support of the country’s armed forces.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Nitesh Ranjan, Executive Director, followed by a vibrant cultural programme, celebrating the enduring spirit of Union Bank of India — a century-old institution that continues to evolve, empower, and enrich lives across the nation.
