JSW Steel Odisha Unit boosts workforce preparedness with labour codes awareness drive at Nuagaon Mine

In a significant step toward strengthening regulatory awareness and employee empowerment, JSW Steel’s Odisha Mining Division on Wednesday organised an extensive Labour Codes Awareness Session at its Nuagaon Iron Ore Mine. The initiative focused on enhancing workforce understanding of India’s newly consolidated labour regulations.

The session witnessed active participation from 150 employees and officials, reflecting the company’s commitment to fostering informed and compliant workplace practices. Leading the knowledge-sharing effort was T. Hari Prasad, Deputy Director of Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar Region–1, who offered a detailed explanation of the four newly enacted Labour Codes that unify 29 existing labour laws. He highlighted how the simplified framework bolsters worker welfare while easing regulatory compliance for industries.

Senior JSW Steel officials — including Arundeep Bhattacharjee (Mine Manager), Jiban Jyoti Dash (Safety Officer) and Jitendra Nanda (Welfare Officer) — guided employees through the practical aspects of the codes, ensuring clarity on implementation at the ground level.

To aid retention and understanding, participants were provided with concise pamphlets summarising major legal changes and relevant safety measures. The interactive format encouraged employees to raise queries and contribute suggestions aimed at smoother adoption of the new regulatory framework.

JSW management urged the workforce to integrate the updated provisions into day-to-day operations, reaffirming its commitment to compliance, transparency and worker safety. The awareness drive is expected to strengthen the organisation’s culture of responsibility and further reinforce JSW Steel’s dedication to ethical and safe mining practices in Odisha.
