PPA marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities with powerful message of inclusion

In a heartwarming celebration of resilience, inclusion and community spirit, Paradip Port Authority (PPA) observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at JAGRUTY School for differently abled children. The event resonated with this year’s global theme, *“Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”*

Capt. A. C. Sahoo, Dy. Conservator, PPA, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Applauding the determination and talent of the children, he reaffirmed PPA’s unwavering support for the school’s holistic development. Guest of Honour H. S. Rout, Chief Engineer, PPA, further assured continued infrastructure enhancement for the institution.

The programme was enriched by the presence of several dignitaries including Susil Chandra Nahak, CME; Paradip Ladies’ Club office bearers — Secretary Puspanjali Sahoo, Treasurer Edison,  Working President Nahak, Member Sabita Sahu — along with Nalini Mohanty, Principal, Jagruty School. Dy. CAO Prasanta Kumar Moharana also addressed the gathering.

In a gesture of appreciation, PPA felicitated 51 Divyang employees with mementoes, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the organisation. The authority also distributed school kits to the children and staff of JAGRUTY School. The Paradip Ladies’ Club extended financial assistance, further reinforcing the community’s collective commitment to empowerment.

The event was brightened by engaging cultural performances from the students, which received warm applause from the audience. Welfare Officer Rama Chandra Pradhan delivered the welcome address, while Seemashri Beura, Treasurer of Jagruty, proposed the vote of thanks.

Paradip Port Authority concluded the observance with a renewed pledge to champion inclusivity, ensure equal opportunities, and build a supportive ecosystem that uplifts persons with disabilities and recognises their rightful place in society.
