NTPC Bongaigaon made a strong and commendable mark at the Intra Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) – ER-II Football and Cricket Tournaments, with its teams and players delivering consistent performances and earning several team and individual honours across both disciplines.
The tournaments concluded with a formal closing and prize distribution ceremony, during which participating teams ceremonially handed over the football and cricket trophies to the Head of Project and senior HR officials. Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, formally received the trophies, congratulating the teams and lauding the discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship displayed throughout the competitions.
In football, outstanding individual performances by NTPC Bongaigaon employees drew special recognition. Narkhw Narzary was awarded the Golden Boot for his impressive goal-scoring feat, emerging as one of the standout players of the tournament. Khwmdwn Narzary received the Golden Gloves Award for his consistent and dependable performance as goalkeeper, playing a vital role in strengthening the team’s defence.
The Man of the Match awards in football further underlined individual brilliance, with Narkhw Narzary receiving the honour in two matches, while Suraj and Rajib were each awarded Man of the Match for their decisive contributions in key fixtures.
NTPC Bongaigaon also recorded notable success in the cricket tournament. At the team level, the NTPC Bongaigaon men’s team secured the Runner-Up position, reflecting consistent performances and competitive spirit across league and knockout matches.
Several players earned individual accolades for their batting prowess. Abhijit Ghosh was adjudged the Best Bat of the Tournament and also received the award for Most Fours, highlighting his consistency and match-winning contributions. Jitendra Mohanty was honoured with the award for Best and Most Sixes of the Tournament, showcasing the team’s strong middle-order batting strength. Man of the Match awards in cricket were presented to Mukarram, Tamal Kanti Paul and Jitendra Mohanty for their impactful performances.
Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra emphasised the role of sports and IRSM in fostering teamwork, discipline, leadership and a healthy work-life balance. He appreciated the players, organisers and HR Department for ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournaments and for promoting a culture of sports and wellness within NTPC.
The achievements and recognitions earned by NTPC Bongaigaon employees at the IRSM ER-II Football and Cricket Tournaments reaffirm the station’s continued focus on employee engagement, physical fitness and holistic development, while strengthening inter-project bonding across the Eastern Region-II.
