Aditya Aluminium Lapanga partners Odisha Horticulture Department to bloom high-tech floriculture in Sambalpur

Strengthening its commitment to sustainable livelihoods and inclusive rural development, Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Odisha, for the implementation of a Special Floriculture Project in Sambalpur district. The initiative marks a significant step towards promoting modern, high-value agriculture while empowering local communities, particularly women.

The MoU was signed by Jagannath Prasad Nayak, Unit Head, Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga, and Prasanna Kumar Pattra, Project Director, DRDA, Sambalpur, in the presence of senior officials from the Department of Horticulture, including Priyanka Priyadarshini, Assistant Director of Horticulture. Senior representatives from Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga, including Vinod Nand Thakur, Head – HR, Ravi Niwash, Head – CSR, and Manoranjan Behera, Deputy Manager – CSR, were also present on the occasion.

The project centres on Gerbera cultivation as an integrated floriculture initiative, tapping into the fast-growing demand for premium cut flowers across weddings, events and urban retail markets. Taking advantage of Sambalpur’s favourable climate and soil conditions, the initiative will promote protected floriculture through advanced technologies such as polyhouse cultivation, drip irrigation and fertigation systems, ensuring higher productivity, superior quality and year-round cultivation.

Designed as a scalable and high-tech floriculture model in Jujumura Gram Panchayat, the project aims to create sustainable income opportunities for farmers while strengthening women’s participation and enhancing technical skills at the grassroots level. By introducing modern agricultural practices and market-oriented cultivation, the initiative seeks to nurture a new generation of rural entrepreneurs in the region.

The floriculture project will be implemented with support from MIDH subsidy along with Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga’s community development programmes. Together, these efforts are expected to contribute to long-term livelihood enhancement, agricultural diversification and inclusive rural growth, reinforcing the company’s role as a key partner in Odisha’s sustainable development journey.
