ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great pride and patriotic enthusiasm across its operational sites in Odisha.
At the Paradeep Pellet Plant, Suresha G, Executive Director – Odisha Asset, AM/NS India, unfurled the National Flag in the presence of employees and community members from nearby villages. The ceremony was followed by the felicitation of community representatives and a vibrant cultural programme, where girls from neighbouring villages and security personnel showcased their talent through patriotic songs and dance performances, symbolising unity and integrity. An award ceremony was also held to honour security staff and employees for their exemplary dedication and service.
Addressing the gathering, Suresha G said, “Independence Day is a time to reflect on our history and our responsibility in shaping the future. The spirit of independence lives on in every child’s drawing, every performance, and every act of service. We are proud to stand with the next generation as they shape a brighter future. Our initiatives in education and healthcare reflect our ongoing commitment to Nation building.”
At the Beneficiation Plant in Dabuna, Keonjhar, the celebrations were led by Jaiwardhan Paroha, Plant Head – Dabuna Beneficiation Plant, and Jaikishan Sharma, Head – Logistics, AM/NS India. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the tricolour, followed by a parade by security personnel and floral tributes to the Amar Jawans. Women from nearby villages presented cultural performances, and awards were distributed to employees and security personnel for their outstanding service.
At the Ghoraburhani-Sagasahi mine, the National Flag was hoisted by Satyakam Dash, Mines Manager, in the presence of Ratnesh Prasad, Head – Project, AM/NS India, along with Manoj Kumar, General Manager, Thriveni Earthmovers, employees, and partners. Similarly, at the Thakurani Mine, Indrakant Saha, Mines Manager, AM/NS India, led the celebrations by hoisting the flag, which was followed by an award ceremony recognising security personnel.
The CSR team of AM/NS India also marked the occasion with spirited celebrations across four schools and five Anganwadi centres in Paradeep. Activities such as essay writing, debate, and drawing competitions were organised for children, and prizes were distributed at Maa Ambika High School to encourage young talent. In Dabuna, more than 150 students from Indira Smruti Bidyapitha School, Government Primary School, and Shree Gupteswar High School actively participated in joint celebrations organised by the CSR team.
In and around Thakurani and Sagasahi mines, AM/NS India supported schools and Anganwadi centres in organising Independence Day programmes that honoured freedom fighters and instilled patriotic values among students. At Kalmang High School in Sagasahi, grand celebrations included flag hoisting, quiz, cultural events, debates, and essay writing competitions. In total, AM/NS India extended support to nine schools, eleven Anganwadi centres, and several gram panchayats in the region by providing prizes, distributing sweets, and reaffirming its commitment to community development and Nation building.
