CUTTACK, SEPTEMBER 2, 2025
Reinforcing its commitment to rural prosperity and sustainable farming practices, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd., has introduced vegetable cultivation on 25-cent (¼ acre) plots in Cuttack under its flagship Gram Parivartan Project. This intensive farming model allows farmers to grow multiple varieties of vegetables on small land parcels through efficient water management and succession planting, thereby optimizing yields and boosting household incomes.
As part of this initiative, DBF distributed 1 HP electrical motor pumps to farmer groups, ensuring reliable irrigation support and improved crop productivity. The intervention is rooted in DBF’s unique 50/50 contribution model, where costs are shared equally between the Foundation and the farmers — promoting affordability, ownership, and shared responsibility.
With the latest distribution, DBF has extended irrigation support to 470 farmers in Cuttack through motor pumps, significantly contributing to sustainable agriculture, enhanced earnings, and nutritional security in the region. The programme witnessed the presence of Pankaj Gupta, Unit Head, Kapilas Cement Works (KCW), and Sudhir Ranjan Mohanty, HR Head, KCW, who encouraged farmers to adopt improved agricultural practices for long-term prosperity.
Speaking on the initiative, Pankaj Gupta, Unit Head, KCW, said, “Farmers are the backbone of our nation, sowing life into the soil and nurturing growth for generations. Through the Gram Parivartan Project, we strive to empower them with resources and opportunities that foster resilience and ensure sustainable prosperity. Vegetable farmers not only grow food but also cultivate health, hope, and sustainability for their communities.”
Launched to advance holistic rural development, the Gram Parivartan Project encompasses interventions in agriculture, water conservation, skill development, horticulture, livestock management, and microenterprises. By promoting self-reliant villages, the initiative strengthens livelihoods while building resilience against future challenges. In Odisha, thousands of families have already benefitted, witnessing transformative improvements in farming practices, income stability, and overall quality of life.
Through such interventions, DBF continues to reaffirm its vision of fostering sustainable livelihoods and empowering rural India through inclusive, multi-dimensional development programmes.
Dalmia Bharat Foundation is committed to creating sustainable livelihoods and advancing rural development in its programme areas. Its initiatives integrate long-term strategies with medium- and short-term campaigns to achieve lasting impact. Recognizing the diverse needs of communities across regions, DBF adopts a flexible, multi-intervention approach that enables programmes and people to grow together. Its focus areas are shaped by the expressed needs of communities as well as priorities relevant to the business, ensuring meaningful and lasting outcomes.
