The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zepto Private Limited to accelerate the growth of early-stage manufacturing startups through the ‘Zepto Nova’ innovation challenge. The strategic collaboration is designed to identify, mentor, and scale startups working on transformative solutions in hardware, IoT, packaging, and sustainable manufacturing.

Under the agreement, a dedicated six-month programme will help startups advance from prototype to market-ready solutions by leveraging Zepto’s extensive delivery and digital infrastructure. The initiative will combine DPIIT’s Startup India platform with Zepto’s innovation ecosystem, offering mentorship, capacity building through expert-led workshops, and targeted support for women-led enterprises and startups from Tier II and III cities.

Zepto aims to integrate more than 100 Indian startups into its supply chain, providing them with a powerful platform for showcasing products, gaining market access, and expanding their footprint.

Speaking at the signing, DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv emphasised that support from unicorns can play a decisive role in nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs, adding that market access remains a crucial enabler for startup success.

The MoU was formally signed by DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Zepto Co-founder Kaivalya Vohra. Vohra highlighted that the partnership will help shape the future of manufacturing in India by fostering innovation and enabling startups to scale sustainably.

This collaboration marks a significant step in DPIIT’s broader mission to forge impactful partnerships that drive rapid innovation, inclusive growth, and the vision of a self-reliant India.
