The Inner-Wheel Club (IWC) of Bhubaneswar took a significant step towards combating digital violence with the successful hosting of a workshop titled “Cyberbullying – Impact of Digital Violence on Girls.” The event, held at Kamala Nehru Women’s College, drew over 70 students from the +2 classes and received enthusiastic support from the college administration and faculty members.
The workshop aimed to highlight the growing threat of online harassment, particularly targeting young girls in today’s increasingly digital world. Madhumita Dash, the chairman of the IWC project, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of addressing this urgent issue.
Dr. Supriya Pattnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Centurion University of Technology & Management (CUTM) and the chief guest for the event, captivated the audience with powerful insights into the pervasive nature of cyberbullying and its devastating effects on young girls. She shared real-life case studies to illustrate the trauma caused by online harassment, cyberbullying, and digital stalking, and stressed the need for stronger protective measures in the digital landscape. Dr. Pattnaik reminded the attendees that while technology offers great opportunities, it also poses serious risks, especially for vulnerable groups like girls.
The event kicked off with a welcoming address by Surekha Prasad Sahu, President of the IWC Bhubaneswar, followed by a presentation on the Club’s mission by District Secretary Pushpa Harichandan. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Vice-President Jayashree Pattnaik.
The workshop was met with enthusiasm, and participants called for more such initiatives to empower young women and ensure their safety in the digital age. This workshop marks yet another step in IWC Bhubaneswar’s ongoing mission to promote women’s empowerment and social upliftment.
