Finolex Cables Ltd. (FCL), India’s leading manufacturer of electrical and communication cables, on Tuesday announced a strong performance for the first quarter of FY 2025-26, with revenues reaching ₹1,395.5 crore, up 13 per cent from ₹1,230.5 crore in the same period last year.

The company’s growth was driven by a significant 96 per cent surge in Power Cable volumes, alongside a 6 per cent increase in Electrical Wire volumes. However, the Communication Cables segment saw a decline in both metal-based and optic fiber cable volumes, primarily due to delays in customer agreements for OFC supply. Unseasonal rains during the quarter also affected sales in emerging product categories.

Copper price volatility impacted pricing strategies, with selling prices reduced in April. Additionally, the weather disruptions hindered agricultural wire sales, altering the product mix and exerting pressure on margins.

Despite these challenges, profit after tax rose 13 per cent to ₹138.8 crore from ₹122.5 crore last year.

The company also updated on its capacity expansion plans, stating that its new Preform Facility is running behind schedule and is now expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of this fiscal year.
