In a major push to industrial development and employment generation in Odisha, Hindalco Industries Ltd, the flagship metals company of the Aditya Birla Group, has inked two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Government of Odisha to establish apparel manufacturing units in Kendujhar and Sambalpur districts. The total investment commitment stands at Rs 200 crore, with each district set to receive Rs 100 crore.

The MoUs were signed on Friday during the Textile Investor Meet 2025 (Tex-2025) held at the Odisha Secretariat in Bhubaneswar, jointly organized by the Government of Odisha and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

The agreements were formally exchanged between Ardhendu Mahapatra, President – Corporate Affairs, Hindalco Industries Ltd, and B.S. Poonia, Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, in the august presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Also present at the event were key government dignitaries including Sampad Charan Swain, Minister for Industries and Skill Development; Pradeep Bal Samant, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles; Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja; Development Commissioner Anu Garg; and Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma.

According to the terms of the MoUs, each manufacturing unit is expected to generate around 1,200 direct employment opportunities, providing a combined 2,400 jobs for local youth. The units are slated to become operational in the near future, contributing significantly to the socio-economic upliftment of the two districts.

This investment underscores Hindalco’s commitment to Odisha’s inclusive growth. As a responsible corporate citizen, the company aims to support skill development and generate meaningful employment through sustained collaboration with the state government.

With this move, Hindalco further deepens its presence in Odisha, aligning with both its corporate social responsibility goals and the state’s vision to emerge as a leading textile and apparel hub in eastern India.
