On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, the Hinduja Foundation—philanthropic arm of the 110-year-old Hinduja Group—reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to equipping India’s youth with future-ready, transformative skills. In partnership with various Hinduja Group companies, the Foundation continues to spearhead impactful education and livelihood initiatives that empower young Indians to thrive in a rapidly evolving, digital-first economy.
The Foundation’s concerted efforts span both education and skilling domains. Nearly one lakh youth have been trained and empowered through the Road to Livelihood (RTL) program and other targeted skilling interventions. These initiatives include vocational training and modules designed to enhance digital fluency, communication skills, and workforce readiness — critical attributes for success in today’s job market.
On the education front, as of FY25, over 7.4 lakh youth across more than 15 states have benefitted from flagship programs such as Road to School (RTS), Road to Livelihood (RTL), the Haryana Development Impact Bond (DIB), and other group-led initiatives. While RTS and the Haryana DIB focus on strengthening foundational education, the RTL program creates a bridge between education and employability—equipping youth with the tools they need to transition smoothly into the workforce.
Namrata Hinduja, Member of the Steering Committee at Hinduja Foundation, emphasized the broader vision behind these efforts, stating, “At Hinduja Foundation, we see youth empowerment not merely as a programmatic goal, but as the cornerstone of nation-building. By nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped with skills, values, and vision, we are laying the foundation for a future where every young Indian becomes a catalyst for a more inclusive, resilient, and progressive India.”
Echoing this sentiment, Paul Abraham, President of the Hinduja Foundation, said, “With over 600 million Indians under the age of 25, addressing youth skilling is not just a priority—it is a national imperative. We believe true empowerment lies in equipping young people with digital, future-ready skills while helping them understand and address critical global challenges like climate change, resource sustainability, and social inequality. In doing so, we are shaping a generation that leads with creativity, confidence, and a sense of purpose.”
The Foundation’s initiatives are closely aligned with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s Skilled India vision and the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat agenda. By nurturing a generation that is digitally literate, socially conscious, and equipped for the future, the Hinduja Foundation is playing a pivotal role in realizing India’s ambition of becoming a self-reliant and globally competitive nation.
The measurable impact of the Foundation’s education programs is noteworthy. Through initiatives like Road to School and Road to Livelihood, the Foundation has reached 7,44,300 students across 7,965 schools, impacted 18,000 educators, and engaged over 2,40,000 community members. Notably, 72% of school dropouts supported by the programs have been successfully reintegrated, and 15,464 students have transitioned from private schools to government-supported project schools.
On the skilling front, approximately 1 lakh underserved youth across India have benefitted from targeted development programs. These efforts, driven in collaboration with group companies, are significantly enhancing employability and promoting digital inclusion among India’s youth — particularly in underserved and rural communities.
Through its holistic, youth-centric approach, the Hinduja Foundation is not just celebrating World Youth Skills Day — it is shaping a generation of changemakers equipped to lead India into a brighter, more equitable future.
